So far so good. As with many hard drives, some clicks are definitely not loud, but are noticeable if you're used to SSD drives. Also, I reconfigured to RAID 1 and wanted to make sure the data was actually being written correctly to both drives. I called tech support and they told me I just have to believe it's written. The only other suggestion would be to remove one of the disks and then the other. Unfortunately this causes the RAID to go out of sync (?) and when the drive is returned it takes a very long time to rebuild the RAID structure. I used g-technology software to assign a RAID 1 configuration and it checks if RAID 1 is configured. I just want to verify data safety in case of a single disk failure and this seems like the only way to do it as above. I've used Drobo for years with no problems, but switched to this array as disk/storage prices have come down and 8TB and 10TB drives are now available. (Also read about issues with Drobo's proprietary framework and the difficulty of recovering data if the Drobo device itself fails.)
