Not accurate enough for aquarium use

From the start I suspected it was showing a slightly higher number than expected in some RODI waters. I went ahead and used it to mix up a batch of saltwater for a new reef tank. I mixed, so the meter said 35 ppt. I let him set the temperature for Temp. I will say that it looks like it took a lot more salt than I thought it would. I really wasn't sure about this counter. I took a water sample to a fish store and it was 60 PPT. I bought a refractometer and calibration fluid. I diluted the water in the tank until the refractometer read 35 ppt (specific gravity = 1.0264). I tested with this meter and it showed 30 ppt. To calibrate this meter, you need odd-numbered bead salinity fluid. I was just lucky it was a new tank with no fish/corals.

Pros
  • Backlit design, you don't have to worry about the displayed value being visible when there is not enough light. The ORAPXI salt meter is equipped with a green backlit LCD display that helps you see the measurement results clearly in any situation.
Cons
  • The cable is shorter than other picks.
