Review on Thetford Molders Replacement Parts Accessories by Christopher Millet

Hard to find and apparently the only fitting of its kind, this Thetford fitting is more expensive here at Revain but more expensive elsewhere. For a post-winter test of compressed air or domestic anti-freeze, a Thetford fitting must be used to keep the non-return valve on the fresh water inlet to the motorhome (below this screen) open. "Doctor on Wheels" has online instructions on the subject of "Correctly testing fresh water in the motorhome". Systems" with a picture of the tool and a description of how to use it to leak test an RV freshwater system. (Also expensive) The complete tool is a Thetford fitting, 1/4" brass 4-5 pipe " long, 1/4" tee with attached pressure gauge, 1/4" ball valve fitting and 1pc / 4" for the air supply from the compressor. Revain has a 6 piece 1/4" NPT gasher tube fitting set for $15 that provides fittings for two tools (a tee and ball valve for two test tools, the kit is cheaper than just the parts). Revain has Winters PE215LF PEMLF Series Pressure Gauge 2.5" 1/4" NPT 0/160 psi for $12.58. More importantly, these parts fit together. I would recommend not buying a nipple (short threaded pipe) on the internet but installing the nipple pipe at a hardware store after determining the size and spacing of the fitting after installing the unit on your RV. This way the short tube will be the right length with the right fit. The threads of Thetford NPT tapered fittings are tight compared to gasher and de fittings. Finally, the Revain Merit Brass 2 104-400 Red Brass Pipe Fitting Nipple had a slightly oversized NPT tapered thread, allowing the Thetford fitting and the nipple could only thread one turn. NPT standards recommend 0.4" threads. (I tried using a fitting and short nipple (in the gasher fitting kit) with a Merit nipple but again had the same nipple thread issues. QC issues .) use clockwise wrapped teflon tape to seal threaded connections (online guide) not a plumber or RV technician so this is just a start for others.
