Review on Munchkin Aluminum Hardware Hallways Extends by David Royles

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Align one side, then drill. Act!

To be clear, this gate has 5 stars if it is appropriate for YOUR situation. Lower star ratings indicating they had to do A LOT of extra work to get it working or couldn't use it due to sharing issues are certainly valid. So before you buy, think about where you want the gate to be. Make sure you have at least ONE side (where the hinge will attach) with enough clearance for the gate to slide on, and then at least a few inches of clearance over the top for the latch to work (see my tips below!) . I took the negative reviews here as lessons learned and decided not to let them stop me from dating. I've been thinking about getting this gate for over a month and I'm SO HAPPY that I decided to buy it. It's looking a lot better than any other goal at the moment. Installation Tips! - Align ONLY the side of the hinges. The other side should line up with the transoms, no matter how curved that side of the wall may be. Use the video tutorial showing the fully installed gate then slide the latch into place, mark and drill. It's actually not as difficult as some people think. I installed this gate at the top of the stairs. I had 1 side that was free to slide on the side of the gate hinges. I chose this side for the hinge so I could keep that functionality if I wanted to completely remove the gate (to move things or whatever). I mention this because of the following tip. As for the latch, I screwed the TOP screw in almost all the way (only loosened to turn the slider), then turned the slider to the side and PRESSED THE LATCH! Slide it as far as necessary to straighten the latch. You'll need at least a few inches to hold it up and screw the bottom in place, and voila! Depending on how much clearance you have over the side of the latch, you can either screw in just the bottom screw (which we did) or maybe even screw in the middle and bottom screws. As a result, we didn't have to do ANY jack of all trades with our railings. repaint railing) - When marking where to hang the transom side, make sure you lift the transom side so it is flush with the top of the gate. The locking holes are larger than the lugs they snap into. If your gate sags later etc. it will still snap into place. If you attach the latch and just let it hang free as you mark, you'll likely need to raise the gate in the future as gravity takes its toll. Another thought on using . I bought this gate to hold our dog. from the cellar. If you're buying this to scare the kids away I agree with the negative review that kids can probably figure out how to open this gate pretty quickly. If your kids are very young and you're not worried about them figuring out how to open it, it's certainly strong enough (in my opinion) to keep them safe outdoors.
