I have an old D12 DirecTV receiver that was starting to go haywire. I had to press the remote control buttons hard to get the receiver to pay attention. Sometimes the remote was dead - the lights on the mode switch didn't blink when the buttons were pressed - sometimes. However, the volume is controlled directly by the TV and everything worked fine. The batteries have been changed a few times. In addition, the receiver behaved as if frozen. General oddity. I ordered this RC66 remote (exactly the same as the one I already have) because the old one's bulbs weren't blinking. When I installed and tried out the two batteries that came with it, everything worked with a light push of a button. The receiver was still working, so I just restarted it - turned it off and on. Now everything works fine. The only thing I can understand is that the old remote control stuttered and confused the receiver. In any case, this remote works great. You need to find the remote control codes your TV uses in order to program the remote control. The DirecTV website has programming instructions. Works well. The price is right. DirecTV charges $25 for this remote control. You know at this price you really should have a spare - order two. I'm giving it five stars even though the two batteries that came with it died exactly two days later.
