not the best quality, lasts about a year. Update 11 months to failure

UPDATE 2019. Took almost a year before the plastic broke and the cord was dangling and the door wouldn't open anymore. The plastic used is of very poor quality. The original plastic Fords lasted 18 years, but these lasted 11 months. I would recommend going to an OE Ford or going to an aluminum eyelet which a lot of people do. I decided to replace the ends with alum and see how they hold up. because the faulty part of these cables are the plastic latches on the ends. I really hope that the alum update will make me rip the door apart again. I wanted to wait a little longer before writing a review. After having them installed in my van for 8 months I decided now is the time to give my opinion. They were great initially and I was very happy that my side doors worked as they should. Now 8 months later they are starting to have problems. They've worn to the point where the door won't open until the handle is pulled almost all the way out. I'm guessing the most common external cable will break in the next few months, just like OE did. I think I'll try to find a higher quality cable or use an OE Ford cable as I don't want to change the cable every year as it's a bit of a hassle. The OE cable has lasted almost 18 years and this replacement may last 1 year as it already looks like the original cable just before it snapped.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
