Review on Efficient Oil Filter Drain Tool with Release Hose for Toyota, Lexus, and Scion 2.0L - 5.7L Engines by Ken Hamdan

Nice little trick to empty the filter housing.

Overall a nice little tool for emptying the filter housing. This makes it a little cleaner than the plastic drains that come with new filter elements. In general, the workmanship seems normal, there are no burrs or chips on the parts, although some threads have small dents that do not cause problems. This tool is hex shaped to screw into the filter housing, but I don't think anyone actually uses a wrench to install it, they do it by hand. With that in mind, the case was quite difficult for me to unscrew, mainly due to the long length of the hose and the lack of a swivel joint, and even difficult to remove as your hands get oily at this point, with leaks occurring before you're sealed. it's at the bottom. Suggestions for improvement are to make a hex section out of round rod and have the same knurl pattern on it as the drain plug, or cut out a hex to give me grip. If none of that, then knock off the sharp edges of the hex because they don't feel when oily hands try to grab them. Finally, I recommend others to ditch this unit and use a plastic drain instead.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Vulgarity
