Review on Vortex Engine Oil Dipstick Tube for 2000-2006 Audi A4 & VW Passat 1.8L - Part # 06B-103-663G/B by John Warren

Correct part for my B5 Passat L4 gas engine. Mounted directly between the 2nd and 3rd entry rail. After 10+ years the plastic under the hood started to crumble and my regular pipe was *crumbly*. DO NOT LEAVE PLASTIC PIECES IN THE METAL TUBE if you can. This leads down into the oil pan and larger pieces of plastic can clog the intake, or small particles can potentially get through the shield and damage your engine. I had long tweezers and a headlamp to keep the pieces from getting in. I also had a friend hold the probe in the tube at an angle to prevent anything from falling off while I was removing parts. I recommend replacing it as preventative maintenance rather than waiting for yours to break. holding the top of the tube because when I first pulled out the dipstick to check the oil level, the tube shifted. There are small teeth on the bracket and you should try to press the plastic levers against these teeth whenever possible. Look at the photos and you will see what I mean. Get creative, I'll go to the hardware store and see what I can put together for $5.
