Review on πŸ“· Tamron 70-180mm F/2.8 Di III VXD Lens for Sony Full Frame/APS-C E-Mount, Black by Aashit Sing ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The quality is top notch and I recommend the product for purchase.

In general, the lens is extremely comfortable and pleasant. Focal lengths are quite satisfying. -20mm from 200mm can't be said to be felt. As I understand it, they cut these 20mm to fit into the thread for filters of 67mm and 15cm in length when folded. Incredibly cool to have 3 lenses 17-28 (2.8), 28-75 (2.8) and 70-180 (2.8) with the same thread. Those. the result is a set of lenses that is not only incredibly light and compact, but does not require different accessories. Bought 1 ND variable density filter and enjoy life. Shoot a movie, take pictures on the entire range of 17-180 without problems. Economy and ease of use. The best mid-range set for any situation. Also pay attention to the bokeh (see the photo with the pigeon on the wires). It wraps itself, as if in a whirlwind. The closer to the edge, the more pronounced the ovality of the shape with the minor axis facing the center of the frame. Like on Soviet Helios. It's just amazing! Excellent portraits are obtained (see photo with a cat). 2.8 aperture in most situations does not allow you to blur the background into an absolute mess, but creates a very soft and beautiful background shading. It is convenient to "hunt" birds, strangers and large insects. To shoot macro (at 70mm), you need to switch the focus to manual or automatic with manual override. Then you can put the subject almost point-blank to the glass. This results in a very large image. But the focus will have to be adjusted by yourself, and not automatically.

Pros
  • Lightweight and compact compared to competitors Cutting No problems with distortion, chromatic aberration and other subtleties Price Macro Capability
Cons
  • For the sake of sharpness, compactness, lightness and accessibility, I had to cut off the maximum focal length (-20mm from competitors), make a plastic case and not install optical stabilization.
