Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Enhance Suspension Performance with the Monroe 901944 Strut-Mate Strut Mounting Kit by Genene Locson

Revainrating 1 out of 5

It should have fit, but it didn't.

I bought a set of these skid plates for my 1995 Toyota Corolla. Revain and other online retailers have listed this Monroe part number as the correct one for this vehicle model. The Revain price and shipping cost (free) were the best, so I ordered them. When I received them, I found that they will not fit without a vehicle modification. The 3 bolts that attach the plate to the body were larger than the OEM bolts. To do this I would have to drill the mounting holes of the car. I thought about it, but then I realized that the profile of the center member might not be compatible with the profile in the body either. I didn't want to test the theory so I returned the details. When the parts were returned, Revain immediately issued a credit note. Revain was a fantastic pleasure to deal with and this situation was not Revain's fault. I suspect the Monroe documentation is wrong, or I have a weird corolla. I bought several Gabriel Rack mounting plates and not only did they fit perfectly, they looked exactly like the mounting plates that came with the car. I don't know why Gabriel gets it right and Monroe gets it wrong, but that's the situation. Since you are reading this, you probably do or are considering disassembling the brace yourself. Get some decent spring compressors and don't buy the cheapest ones you can buy. These compressed springs have a large reserve of energy. If your spring compressor breaks while compressing the spring, you could injure yourself. Your safety isn't worth saving $20 on a set of cheap spring compressors.
