Review on 🔐 ULTRALOQ UL3 BT (2nd Gen) Smart Lock: Enhanced 5-in-1 Keyless Entry Electronic Door Handle in Sleek Black Design by Sean Andrews

We bought this electronic lock for our back door two years ago. My wife wanted more smart devices around the house and I thought the UL3 would be a great addition. Everything looks great out of the box. The two builds are strong and appear to be well made. Installation was easy, descriptions were clear and concise. The phone app is fine, I was able to easily enter our codes and fingerprints into the system. Things don't go so smoothly in the long run. The knock on phone feature didn't work on any of our phones. The fingerprint scanner works well when the outside temperature is above mid 60's, below that the success rate drops. The number 5 on the glowing number pad has become fancy, we have to press it a few times for it to lock. Mechanically, the castle was less impressive. As the year of ownership progressed, the inner handle began to wobble. I contacted u-tec customer service and they sent me a video on how to fix the problem. Unfortunately, it has become a monthly ritual. More recently, the spring in the inner handle post broke so the inner handle now folds down after twisting the handle. We can still enter and exit the house, but we have to turn the knob back manually. I contacted customer service again, sent them a video and for their credit they sent me an RMA form for a new spring on Sunday along with a video of how to replace it. Now, two years later, I've had to do about $250 in manual lock repairs. My wife and I are not picky when it comes to door handles, we have never had to change them for mechanical reasons. I think Ultraloq is a great concept, but the quality of some of the internals leaves something to be desired. I certainly expected the mechanic to outlive the 10 year old $30 knob he replaced. Now I have to decide if I should fix this lock or just buy something else.
