HIGH wailing "eeeeee" sound. It's not very loud, but it's there, especially within 3 feet of my desktop PC. The damn high pitched sound is pretty annoying. Guess I have to send that back. Sigh. This hard drive has decent speeds: 160 Gb/s reading and writing. But that damn howl! Maybe I have a bad hard drive. Seatools, Seatools DOS, Western Digital diagnostic tools, chkdsk windows, ALL SHOW GOOD HDD. ZERO MISTAKES. SMART IS OVER BUT WHY THE FUCKING WHING NOISE? Sigh. To be honest, when it goes to "sleep mode" or becomes inactive, it's silent until I need to access some files on the disk again. But unfortunately there is no way to disable this feature if you want a 100% always active disk.
