Of the thousands of hard drives we've used since the early 1990's, Toshiba makes great hard drives. It was sold/performed by Revain. We use some of these in 1-2TB and have stopped buying 3TB drives just because they can get a little problematic if your system isn't GPT. They are slightly warmer than their smaller counterparts. 3GB hard drives are not as good as 4TB. Toshiba's 2-year warranty is the same as that of the other manufacturers and is freely selectable. Hard drives can be difficult to inspect because a lot of what makes a drive good or bad is its durability. I bought 4 of these drives to upgrade an old NAS with 4 x 2TB drives. I've been using them for a few weeks now and am happy with the performance. The last time I built a NAS, one of the hard drives failed right away, so I'm glad they're all working. After owning this hard drive for five months last week, I got a lot of errors with it. I am very sorry about that! I wanted to try Toshiba but was frustrated. I installed this drive in my new PC. All components and cables were new. I guess I might need to support WD Black or Seagate. To update. It's still not showing well. I often get errors.

I have bought about 5 of these drives over a period of about 2 years. Every time I build a new computer for someone, I spend dozens of hours researching what is the most economical and powerful for the money. And every time for the last 2 years, the Toshiba P300 3TB has always been one of the fastest drives at a reasonable price in the benchmark results. Yes, there are several faster drives out there with the same 7200 RPM and the same amount of buffer cache, but they are $20-30 more expensive.

Completely failed in just 2 months. This is actually the first hard drive failure I've ever experienced, although I've been building my own computers for over 10 years, so I was baffled at the problems my computer was having until eventually Windows didn't have an infinite boot time, although this is the case and not the hard disk with my operating system (I use an SSD for this). Disconnected the Toshiba hard drive and my computer was fine again, but I have yet to replace this hard drive.

I bought two to use in a RAID 1 configuration. Both are clean formatted. I downloaded them straight away, currently around 60% usage. It's been about two weeks with no errors reported (according to the raid controller event log). I sit about 2 feet from the system which is a vertical block on the floor. I can't listen to discs. What a great deal from Toshiba at the price of the competition and beats them. This drive is quiet while offering excellent performance. This drive replaces the Seagate Barracuda which just didn't have room for my needs and so far I'm a bit confused by the many reviews complaining about heat and noise. If by heat you mean that the drive is running at 90 degrees Fahrenheit instead of the 82 F standby temperature (and I mean doing a full write task as I'm typing this), then that's okay I guess?
