Review on Toshiba P300 500GB Desktop SATA 6Gb/s 7200rpm Internal Hard Drive - 3.5 Inch by Hector Mak

This drive replaces the Seagate Barracuda which just didn't have room for my needs and so far I'm a bit confused by the many reviews complaining about heat and noise. If by heat you mean that the drive is running at 90 degrees Fahrenheit instead of the 82 F standby temperature (and I mean doing a full write task as I'm typing this), then that's okay I guess? My SSD is idling in warmer temperatures and has never shown any sign of being cranky because of it. As for the noise, well, what? This drive is no more than 10 inches from my left ear, even when I'm doing a full typing task, and I can't hear it through my two front-panel Noctua fans. I don't hear any clicks. No whining. Nothing but the gentle fan noise of my precious Austrian whirlwind birds. As such, it's no louder than the 2TB Barracuda it's mounted on, a drive I praised for its quiet nature in my review. Longevity is the only thing I can neither refute nor confirm in this review; I only received the CD on Saturday. If it goes wrong, trust me, I'll come back here and slam Toshiba for its failure.
