Budget Audio Product 2020

It has a very large transformer underneath and a well filtered power supply. At the top is a single 6N3 (5670) vacuum tube, cleverly placed in front of a mirror-polished metal screen, making it appear as if there are two tubes in the unit. In terms of gain, it uses a pair of D1875 (LM1875) class A/B audio amplifier chips. Unlike most inexpensive headphone amps, this amp does not use op-amp ICs to power the headphones. drive demanding headphones. My Sennheiser HD518 headphones draw a lot of power even at low levels, and this amp drives them with ease. As for the speakers, this amp is rated for 20 watts per channel into 8 ohms. Using a dummy load, I measured 15W RMS per channel into 8 ohms before clipping, so it easily matches the published specs. I did headphone listening tests with Sennheiser HD518, Audio Technica ATH-M40x and Sony MDR7506. The sound quality was very good on all three headphones and the amp handled each with no issues. My only complaint is that the amp has too much gain making it difficult to adjust the volume. It wasn't possible to increase the volume above 35, suggesting that it would be nice to have a high/low gain switch. Since the amp is only 15W RMS, I did most of my speaker testing with reference bookshelf speakers (Infinity P163). , 90dB) and while I have no plans to use this amp with speakers, I was pleasantly surprised at how capable this amp is. While there is a slight drop in the end frequencies (faint but measurable), the mids are crisp and silky smooth, and the amp easily delivers punchy dynamics when the music calls for it. With less efficient speakers (my Pioneer SB-BS21LR) the modest output was evident, but that didn't detract from the great sound of this almost amazing amp. When compared to other headphone amps in the same price range, I think the iNFi headphone amp is far superior to the competition I've had, including the Atom and the Magni 3 Heresy, both in terms of power, dynamics and pure music Enjoyment. . So far I have given very positive feedback, but there is a problem I need to solve. emphasize. This is not a very good sounding amp so I recommend resting it for at least 12 hours before using it for music enjoyment or you may be disappointed. While it sounded great after playing it in, I took it a step (or two) further. The transformer has enough power for the 6SN7, but the sound was dark and too high to fit into the case with the 6SN7 tube adapter. I finally settled on the NOS JAN 5670 which I felt had faster transients and a much better soundstage. Last but not least, it is about the price. This amp would be a bargain at $150 in my opinion and it could very well be the price range after the holiday sale ends. So if you're interested, maybe you better hurry up. As always, thanks for reading.
