Scratches oil filter caps on BMW

Was recommended when I called to have the BMW oil filter removed. The first few times I scratched the oil filter cover. Didn't want to continue because I don't want to completely lose the thread on the lid. Probably suitable for removing oil filters that rotate in a car, but not suitable for removing oil filter caps.
