I did a complete timing rebuild on an '06 F150 and spent $1400 on guides, chains, oil pump, VCT solenoids, phasers and even cams. On the first phaser I installed I wiped the grease off thinking it was epoxy out of the box, this phaser didn't work on startup, on the other I left the grease and it worked fine. I got so tired that when it took me 10 months to get 9 mpg with no torque, I just locked out the phasers and drove them. $160 and after 2 hours it's working better than when I bought it 5 years ago.
