Review on Sony CMT-LX20i Micro Hi-Fi Shelf System: Top Features and Specifications (Discontinued by Manufacturer) by Amy Walker

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Pretty good sound for small rooms.

If you meet your expectations in several areas, the Sony CMT-LX20i delivers decent sound in a small space. I bought this to replace an 18 year old shelving system that was showing its age (still had a cassette player and no direct iPod input). Installation was quick and easy. The instructions provided were adequate (although printed on a large single page reminiscent of a gas station road map. For those who can remember such things). The controls on the device and the remote control are basically the same as on an iPod that is charged in the dock. .To use all options (preset radio stations, alarm clock and programmed CD play) you need a remote control, so don't lose it. The audio from this was good for the quality offered by the compressed digital files stored on the iPod. . The mids, to which I am most sensitive due to my preferred music styles, are good, and there was no overemphasis on bass or treble. Nice additions: a sleep timer and an alarm clock that can wake you up to music. CD size, I find the main control box to be a bit bulky, and the under $100 price point is evident in the look of all the plastic parts. But if you want to pull out your headphones and fill the room with tunes downloaded to your iPod, this will do that and give you change from your Franklin.

Pros
  • Compact Micro HiFi System
Cons
  • Some Bugs
