This gate is so superior to other products we have tried that it is difficult to describe. We use it to keep our dogs upstairs when people come in who accidentally don't like dogs. First, the snap mechanism is great. With practice, you'll learn how to slide the latch and lift the door with one hand, but it will take baby a long time to understand. Note: When unpacked, the door will not fit into the latch. There is a note on the packaging, but it is somewhat ambiguous. Customer service was very patient in explaining how the gate and latch connect during installation. I'm really happy every time I walk through these gates. It's so well done. I can't tell you how many other products we've used that cost a little less than this one but were flimsy, difficult to open and generally not as good. I highly recommend this product.
