Review on AMVR Facial Interface Replacement Comfort by Scoony Taker

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not VERY comfortable but bearable

The original foam on the front was falling off so I had to buy a new one. It seemed like the best value for money (but I really think all of these things are overpriced). Installation was easy. None of us (about 4 family members who use Oculus) liked the coating on the nose plate. For me it didn't really do anything to prevent light leakage as it happens much closer to my face than the nose plate. Personally, I've NEVER been bothered by light leaks, and I find the opening near the nose is useful for ventilation and allows you to look around the room without removing your headset. After trying it out, I just took off the nose cover. The AMVR seems to keep the lenses fog-free better than the original bezel. However, I notice that the pressure on my forehead is much more noticeable, to the point of some discomfort. It would be nice if the padding was fuller so that when pressed against your eyebrow it covers a larger area, thus spreading the weight. I don't feel like the faceplate isn't flat against my cheeks at all, so almost all of the weight falls on the eyebrow. I have to adjust the headband so that it sits comfortably over my eyebrow, which then visually takes me out of my sweet spot. It's worth noting that this is probably still better than the original face mask, which was flat foam. I still get the "Oculus face" from the game, but it's a lot less noticeable on my face than it was on the original face frame. This means AMVR doesn't push it as hard as the original. after a few hours of play at a time, so awkward, but worth it. This is a good replacement if you need one. I just want the material to be wider so the weight of the Oculus is better distributed.

Pros
  • Comfortable to use
Cons
