Review on πŸ”© Premium Stainless Steel Extra Heavy Duty 3/8-24 Stud Mount for Ham & CB Radio Antennas - Ultra Durable and High-Performance Solution by Scott Bradford

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The idea is great, but the design is bad.

I really like that stainless steel is cheap but I won't use it. The electrical connection to the body is via a smooth surface with no "teeth" to cut into the steel. The center socket of the SO-239 connector is not a socket at all. There is no tight grip to ensure a secure connection. I prefer exceptional RF connections. This cannot be achieved. Because the radiation resistance of a quarter-wave stub is low, and shorter/loaded stubs are even lower, any additional resistance reduces the efficiency of the antenna. I'll look for something better before I poke a hole in my car's roof.

Pros
  • The price is excellent
Cons
  • I won't say anything

Hole for the center electrode on a PL259 is not deep enough
