Review on πŸ”₯ Premium Thermostatic Mixing Valve - 1/2 NPT Male Connections, Brass Construction by Tyler Dorsey

Works but imprecise markings and bad washers

As another reviewer mentioned, the washers that come with MIP to tapered thread adapters don't provide a good seal. It's not about thickness, it's about hardness. They deform too easily and go into the inlet/outlet. I had two of the three joints sealed before giving up and buying harder shims from the hardware store. Temperature Control: Controls the temperature, but the index mark is inaccurate. I have 104F when set to 100F, 95F when set to 95F and 83F when set to 86F. Also, according to the specs on this listing, the inlet temperature should be between 34-84F for cold water and 113-210F for hot water, but the box says the range is 41-84F for cold and 140-185 for hot water. My cold water inlet was at 45F and my hot water inlet was 122F when I tested it. My guess is that the inaccurate temperature indexing is due to this device not handling a wide range of input temperatures well. As I ran it longer and the chilled water inlet temp dropped, the output was 80F for the 86F setting, but the 95F setting remained stable. If you only use it for showering and going to the slaughter, it's good enough. My application is to pipe warm water into the cold inlet of my washing machine for a better "cold" wash cycle as opposed to ice water. For this purpose it works fine. I was able to get the Β½ MIP to ΒΎ BP adapters I needed from Home Depot for about $3.50 each.
