I used to do a lot of work and embroidery, but that was many years ago. I'm out of consumables and they're definitely expensive these days, especially if you're buying multiple items at once! This kit provides essential tools to help you get started with cross stitch and embroidery. My mother used to embroider a lot (as did her mother) and taught me a lot of stitches when I was little. I haven't exercised in so long that I'm glad to have this kit so I can freshen up. This kit is only $19.99 so I wasn't expecting much in terms of quality. It turned out a little better than I thought. A hoop alone or 120 skeins of embroidery thread will likely cost more than the whole kit if you buy it at a sewing and craft store. The tires appear to be of fairly good quality; They're not perfectly round, but they're close, and they feel solid. Some of them are a little rough, but since they're made of bamboo, they can be easily sanded to make them smooth. The tensioning mechanism is a bit rough compared to vintage embroidery hoops, but it works well enough. The embroidery thread looks like a cotton blend; the actual content or percentage of each fiber is not given. There is a wide range of colors with a fairly matte finish. They don't look or feel quite premium thread, but they don't cost that either. I'm not sure I would be able to tell the difference in a completed project, although years later it can become apparent. I still have beautiful pieces my mom and grandma made decades ago and the colors are still vibrant and the stitching is still strong. This thread seems strong and not easy to break (I've tried) and I think it will be strong enough for most small projects I would use it for. Each skein contains about 25 feet of thread. If I was taking on a big project or embroidering something that can be worn and washed (like a Levi's jacket that I've wanted to embroider for 25 years but still haven't gotten my hands on), I'd probably buy a thread one well respected brand to ensure it will hold up to wear and tear + let me adjust the color if needed. The accessories are pretty generic, but most of them are usable. The needles are a little disappointing though - some of them aren't straight, and some are irregularly shaped at the tip; Most are not very spicy. Tablecloth Aida (for cross-stitch) is very thick and quite rough, but suitable for classes. There is a very basic guide for stitches used in cross stitch but not other types of embroidery. I think the instructions will not be that helpful for those who are just starting to embroider. Fortunately, there is a wealth of information on the internet these days. I usually make my own patterns, so water-soluble pens and a holder should come in handy. The storage pouch is pretty flimsy, but it works, at least temporarily. I think this kit costs less than $20 and is worth buying for those who want to learn to embroider, or for those who already know how to do it but accidentally start again. I wouldn't say it's suitable for those who sew seriously as I assume they use higher quality materials. I wouldn't give it away as a gift either, unless the intended recipient had already shown an interest.

Pros
  • 120 rainbow thread colors: each thread is about 8.75 meters long. And each embroidery thread consists of six threads, each thread is formed by two thinner threads intertwined with each other. This structure makes the embroidery thread stronger and not easy to break. Embroidery threads 120 colors offer a wide range of colors to meet your needs,
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled
