I use this on the KLR650. I have a GPS strap that I attach to the handlebars for security, but to be honest I don't see the strap coming loose. The mounting bolts use nylock nuts, and the wing nut holding the whole thing together feels solid. On the KLR, I installed the GPS on the lower left bar behind the windshield. It covers the underside of the tachometer, but that's okay. You can power the back of the GPS while it is in the mount. Disassembly is easy; You should take your GPS with you to prevent theft. The bottom buttons are hard to press when the GPS is in the mount, but I really shouldn't fiddle with them while I'm walking. I get it, I've ridden about 400 miles on tarmac and 50 miles on mud and there was no problem.
