We have been using salt and pepper grinders for a number of years now, but we use grinders that require you to turn the lid to grind. They are sometimes difficult to turn and require two hands to operate. So it's cumbersome to use them during cooking because you can't mix foods and control these grinders at the same time. When I saw the electric salt and pepper grinders used in the restaurant, I knew I needed a set. When I found these windmills I knew I wanted to try them. I went for the stainless steel (silver) set and I love that the tops are brushed stainless steel rather than shiny stainless steel that shows fingerprints. It was also important to me that the grinders in these mills are ceramic and not metal, as metal corrodes and rusts too quickly, especially when used with Celtic sea salt that is wet. These windmills glow with white light, not blue. one that some others have. White light makes it much easier to see how much salt or pepper you're putting in your food. The mill's glass jars hold plenty of salt and pepper, so they don't need to be refilled often. I really appreciate that the jar openings are a lot larger than other grinders we've had which makes refilling a lot easier. Another great feature is the ability to change the grind size by turning the knob on top of the grinder. The last picture shows coarsely ground and finely ground paprika. The only disappointment was that these grinders require 6 AAA batteries each and I didn't have enough AAA batteries. Although a lot of batteries are required initially, given the amount of time they will be used, they should last a very long time. These grinders are also very useful for spices that are in seed form, such as coriander, cumin, allspice, and others. Spices that can be bought in seed form. . I currently buy cumin seeds and grind them myself for freshness. By using one of these grinders I was able to use freshly ground cumin without having to grind it separately. Overall, I am very satisfied with these grinders and can recommend them. UPDATE 10/02/20: We have had this set of salt and pepper grinders for over 15 months now and use them daily on the table and for cooking. While I was initially concerned about the amount of batteries used, the batteries still work and have not had to be replaced. Both grinders still deliver an even grind and don't need to be cleaned due to clogging. I am very happy with these grinders as they are much easier to use than those with a lid for testing and the one handed operation is great when cooking foods that require stirring. I also like the light that allows me to see how much salt and/or pepper I am adding to my products. I will update this review if my opinion changes and report back on the durability of these grinders. I hope this review has helped you choose the grinder that is best for you.
