Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very good value for money

I was supposed to receive my Skytech PC on May 14th but UPS said Skytech hadn't shipped it on May 12th so I emailed them via the Revain website to find out what the story was. I received a very good response explaining that due to the current CoronaV situation they have been inundated with orders, they have found it difficult to get some parts and the workforce has also been reduced. I understood that very well and had no problem waiting longer. Well, to add a little sugar to the situation, they refunded me $50 for my patience. Wow. I received the PC on May 20th. It was packed very securely in a thick cardboard box with thick rigid foam inside the box. I took it out and as others have said it is big and beautiful. Inside the case was foam to keep everything airtight. There were no loose parts or wires and everything looked great. Also very good cable management. However, almost no documentation is attached. One page troubleshooting guide, one page service manual, and one page quick start guide. I would like Skytech to send manuals that come with all the components. I got them from the manufacturers websites. A little bit of pain I took inventory of the components to see what was inside and here's what I have. The motherboard is an ASUS B450A-M Micro ATX, the low-end AMD 4 board. There is an 8GB HP V6 DDR4 flash drive that runs at 3200MHz, although it's currently clocked at 2666MHz is set. The board supports 64GB and can overclock this memory to its nominal 3200MHz via BIOS setup, which is a very clunky tool. There is only 1 M.2 PCIe 3.0 x 4 slot for the built-in SSD. Some boards from other brands support 2 M.2 drives. Standard WiFi PCIe card with 2 external antennas installed and working properly. The SSD is a 2.5" PNY 500GB. It has good read/write performance and is very cheap if you want to buy another one. The case has a spare SSD mounting bracket next to the installed drive. You need a SATA -Data cable. I didn't check to see if the PSU has an extra cable to power the drive. Both cables are cheap if you have to buy them. My only real disappointment is the GPU. This is a PNY NVIDIA 1660 6GB -compatible card with only 1 HDMI output, 1 DVI-D and a DisplayPort output, so if you want to use multiple displays, you need monitors with compatible interfaces, so three monitors with different interface types, this is the Thermaltake H200 TG- Case, and it's a mighty beast, it has a tempered glass left side with magnetic twist locks, four fans, three of which have cool RGB lighting, and an LED strip on the front rside. All RGB lights are controlled via a push button switch on the top of the case. A single press toggles each pattern, and a three-second press turns off the light. It has many different light patterns that are really cool. The case features a separate PSU bay isolated from other components and plenty of space for cable management. They give you a wired ARES keyboard and mouse. I like the mouse but wish it was wireless. The keyboard is really weak, using membrane switches that don't click well unless you hit them dead center. Both have colored lights which, like all h$^&, I find annoying. I will replace both. Fine. I did one last check, plugged in a 120hz monitor and power cord, plugged in the AC adapter and hit the go button. Almost so quiet that you can't hear anything. The RGB effects are annoying, so I turned them off. Windows started and took me through the normal boot OS. Microsoft wants to continue your life story, so I ignored them and pretended I didn't have and didn't need a Microsoft account. It is Win 10 Home and has already been tested. I went through OS and driver updates for about an hour, then set the CPUID CPU-Z to check all the component stats. Search for "CPU-Z". I then installed Heaven Benchmark 4.0 for graphics performance testing. Find "Sky Benchmark". Both are free. The motherboard BIOS is up to date, but the NVIDIA driver needs to be updated. Windows lagged behind in many areas, as did MS Defender. This box is fast. Loads less than 12 seconds before login screen. The Heaven benchmark ran at 120 to 200+ fps, which is really great, especially for a mid-range GPU. I bought a box for my grandchildren to use during the visit. Now I keep it to myself and take another, cheaper one. I could have built one for a little less money but chose this one to avoid the hassle of buying and assembling all the parts individually. I also like the universal warranty coverage. Overall my experience with Skytech was very good. I am really impressed by your prompt and honest response to shipping delays and unsolicited discounts. I think the box is very good value for money and I recommend it to everyone. I gave 4 stars for the games because it only has 8GB of memory.
