I bought 6 of these and installed them in my eight foot office. I have solid oak floorboards so finding the centers of the posts is not easy. You MUST insert at least two screws into the wall studs. Wall anchors in drywall will NOT work. Choose your screws very carefully. These guys weigh over 8 pounds each and stick out 12 inches from the wall. You then hang the speaker up (horizontally) as there isn't enough headroom at 8 feet. This puts a lot of strain on the bolts that attach to the wall. Speakers over 15 pounds are fine if you buy these mounts. "J" brackets are often bent by the manufacturer and there is no way to compensate for this without placing them in a vise and bending them straight. Otherwise your speakers will hang askew. You will also need a bubble level with a magnet to make sure the extension is at a 90 degree angle or your speakers will hang askew. I picked it up even though two of them were shorted. . It's a metric and you must use a metric or it won't match. Two rides in HD cost me about $15. They're built like tanks, and even though the speakers hang over the track, I'm not worried about them falling over. But all this is necessary for security. A smaller bookshelf speaker must be mounted horizontally or it will be too close to head height. Looks weird too. I have a lot of experience in such things, so I could do it. I expect 80-85% of the others to go wrong.
