Review on Migiwata Fractional Cobalt Steel Twist Cutting Tools by Ruben Saunders

Revainrating 3 out of 5

After I broke all 10 on one project, they sent me a new pack to try on another project.

UPDATE: The company contacted me to fix the issue. So thank you for the good customer service. I still have a trailer to work on so they sent me another pack of drills. I'll see if they do a better job on this project and will update when I see what's going on. Upgraded to 3 stars for good customer service. Initial Review: I bought these drill bits to use when remodeling my snowmobile trailer deck so I had to drill 2x6's and then corner irons. I drilled through the wood, then added a bit of tap to the holes and onto the drill bit before drilling the corner. I bought a pack of 10 thinking I would need 3 or 4 to do the whole trailer (144 holes total) well. I went through the first 5 holes and then broke a bit, put in a new one and after a few holes another broke. one piece. Needless to say, before I even got halfway there with the trailer I had a box of 8 bits that had broken off and 2 that were so blunt I couldn't cut them anymore. I ended up going to Ace Hardware and bought some Milwaukee drill bits and 2 bits got me through the entire second half of the trailer. Needless to say, these bits were very brittle and didn't hold a sharp edge for long.

Pros
  • COBALT STEEL – Manufactured from M35 Cobalt Steel with added Molybdenum and Cobalt to create a hardened grade up to 67 Rockwell for much faster cutting and longer life, ideal for repetitive drilling in metalworking.
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
