Review on Global Art Materials Drawing Journal by Carrie Spencer

I know there are some bad reviews for the watercolors in this album, but personally I think so sketchbook cool . The album has many pages, the paper is thin but absorbs some water, and it has a nice tooth (texture). To be honest I was very disappointed when I first used this watercolor sketchbook. It stuck together and the pages warped a bit, forcing me to put it aside for a long time. I accidentally picked it up again and underestimated its potential to be fast. I prefer to paint wet on dry and the sketchbook holds paint and water very well. I've tried wet and dry on wet gear and surprisingly it works well. While I would like to make one caveat, don't worry if the pages get wet and the pages look warped. When it dries it snaps back into place (not quite flat, but not super deformed either). I've never seen pages erase if you paint over a spot too hard, but I can see it happening so I'd recommend waiting between coats. If you're a watercolor pro (I don't consider myself a pro) and you paint a lot of layers, mix and use a lot of water, then I wouldn't recommend this sketchbook for you. I find this album to be moderate on water and best suited to the wet-on-dry technique (at least in my experience). I also used markers and gouache in this album (but not visible in the photos, sorry). The markers don't smudge and are actually pretty sharp. If you're one of those artists who likes to smudge markers, I would recommend putting a loose piece of paper on the next page, as the paper isn't thick enough and will cause bleeding. Gouache is similar to watercolor. It may warp but will dry back to normal if you let it dry. All in all a great sketchbook. I keep sketchbooks and I always buy new sketchbooks, but this is the only one I've bought multiple times. Also, this is the only sketchbook I keep coming back to.
