I like being able to control my solar panel.

I live autonomously in a solar house. My battery system consists of eight deep-cycle batteries. My inverter and charge controller measure voltage and current, but they don't tell me the state of charge of my batteries. So I was looking for a battery monitor that can do this for me. I found this ability and more in this WonVon 600 Amp Battery Monitor. First let me say that I am impressed with this battery monitor. I find it pretty much right out of the box. However, it can be calibrated if necessary. In my case, I can verify the accuracy by comparing the specific gravity of the batteries to the state of charge shown on the monitor. They go together pretty well. The battery monitor comes with a very pretty and colorful display that I have built flush into the wall in my kitchen. The pre-assembled cable is long enough for most installation scenarios. The 600 amp shunt that comes with the monitor is perfect for my needs as my inverter can draw up to 250 amps from the batteries at full load. The voltage range of the battery monitor can be between 0 and 120 volts DC. The measuring unit can be powered directly from monitored batteries if their voltage is in the range of 10 to 80 volts. If the voltage is higher or lower, you can switch to the 3-wire configuration and run the monitor on a separate battery or power supply. This battery monitor has the following features: • Data logging • Amp-hours remaining in batteries. • Charge and discharge rate in amp-hours • Elapsed amp-hours • Percentage of battery remaining • External temperature control with built-in temperature sensor • Preset battery size in amp-hours of storage • Current direction (charge or discharge) • Internal battery resistance • Measured current • Measured voltage • Undervoltage protection (requires additional relay ) • Over-voltage protection (requires additional relay) • Over-current protection (requires additional relay) • Over-current protection (requires additional relay) • Thermal protection (requires optional relay as well) • Remote monitoring via Bluetooth via a well-designed smartphone application Please note that the cut-off relay for The above protective functions are not included in the scope of delivery of the battery monitor and must be ordered separately. I don't need this as my battery rig has the ability built in. The guide is minimal, but enough to get you started. The print is small. You can download a more complete PDF manual by scanning the barcode on the printed manual included in the box. Installation is simple and straightforward once you are familiar with wiring and electricity. All components are well marked, so that hardly any mistakes can be made when connecting them. A very nice feature of this battery monitor is an app that you can download and install on your smartphone. The app is available for Android devices and iOS phones and tablets. Both versions are identical in features and functionality. The smartphone app opens up a number of additional functions that are not available on the supplied color display. You want to download the application. One of the additional features of the application is the display of real-time and historical graphs of voltage and current levels. The historical chart can export its data to an impressive number of different file formats. In my case, I like to export to the native spreadsheet program on my iPhone. I can also export to an Excel compatible file on my laptop. Both give me a more detailed overview of the performance of my batteries and their charging profile. The app communicates with the battery monitor via Bluetooth. Thus, its range is 30 to 50 feet. This battery monitor is simply packed with information and well designed. The free smartphone app is well thought out, visually appealing, informative and stable. I had no problems with that. Overall I am very happy with this battery monitoring system. It offers many features and is good value for money.
