UPDATE: The battery lasts LONG. It's been about a year now and I still haven't had to replace the batteries. ORIGINAL: This switch even works with the latest Hunter smart fans such as B. the Wi-Fi enabled Hunter Cavera fan, which has an integrated controller and not a separate controller like other fans. In this case, you do not need to install the fan controller that comes with this switch. You just need to put the batteries into the switch, turn off the switch to the fan, then turn on the switch again and hold the light button and fan button simultaneously for a few seconds for 3 minutes until you hear a beep. The switch is now connected to your existing Hunter fan. If you pair this switch as above, it will pair with all of your Hunter fans that were powered on at the time of pairing. If you only want to connect to one fan, make sure the other fans are turned off during pairing. Your existing fan remote will still work when this switch is in use. If you make a mistake and want to turn off (or reset) this remote, just press and hold the light button and fan button at the same time for a few seconds and it will break. You can just leave this switch on the table and use it as a remote control. Or you can install it on any wall. It includes a small power switch on the bottom that you can optionally wire to the original wiring in your wall, allowing the power switch to control what the old switch controlled. In other words, you can have an existing light switch controlling your bedside lamp, then install a new fan without installing a fan-bound switch, then take that switch and replace it with a bedside switch. Now the little power button on that switch at the bottom controls the bedside light, while the rest of the buttons on that switch control your fan and fan. Or you can just cut a new hole in the wall somewhere and insert this switch and panel without a connection. This is for each wiring. This is because it is a battery powered switch.
