It does exactly what it promises. This frees up my computer so I can record from another. Outstanding image quality in a very compact size. It fits in the palm of my hand so doesn't take up much space. The only thing I would like to know beforehand is that the pass will only work if it has power. That means you can't just leave it connected to your computer with just HDMI cables. The USB must be connected to the computer (no other power source) to receive power. This was kind of a pain for me since I used my laptop for desktop recording. I was hoping to just leave the desktop plugged in, but I had no image on my monitor when this item lost power. So my choice was to leave it plugged in somewhere else or just unplug it completely after recording. I would definitely buy it again, even with this small issue. Worth the money I spent on it.
