Review on πŸ“½οΈ LG PH550 CineBeam LED Projector: Portable, Bluetooth Sound Out, Screen Share & Built-In Battery by Ryan Bowers

everything i wanted!

I did a lot of research before buying but this is my first projector and I don't use a screen. I didn't want to spend more than 500 and would stretch up to 600 including for a refurbished one if it was a good deal but I felt it was the best option for me especially as I wanted something that could be easily moved around and ideally wireless connectivity. since you can't switch lenses on these small projectors (and none of the full sized projectors i've found have built in wireless), lamp life was also important. This tested all areas, especially because it can run on both battery and mains power. What bothered me the most was that a lot of reviews said it was too dark. first out of the box, and in a dark room, there's more than enough light on super-save mode (dimdest). tried it in a room with curtains and blinds (but no blackout at all) in daylight and it was still ok on supersave mode but certainly bright enough on full brightness mode and projected about 6ft (closer is brighter but smaller I still have something like a 5ft diagonal image. Note that I've never projected an image from more than 10ft, but at 10ft the image is still good on screen but works for me it's pretty good nonetheless (will get darker with more use) but I think it'll be a decent $400 run.

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
