Consists of two parts, heater and bathroom. The cord is only about 5 feet long, making it short for outdoor use, perhaps outside of a porch or deck. The instructions say not to use it with an extension cord (probably for safety reasons). I've been using mine on a 20ft medium power cord for several months with no problems. Invest in a good plug cap, though (available at major hardware stores). Upon unpacking the cord was quite stiff and I needed a small rock to hold the heater. With the onset of winter, the cord "came" to the bathroom and the stone could be removed. Despite some bad reviews on this product, it worked well for me. If you're considering the type of bird bath with a bottom heater, I've had one for over ten winters and it worked great until the wire snapped out. during this time every night from the bottom of the water drain. So I would give this guy a good rating as well (again, despite some negative reviews on this product).
