So it's definitely not Mercruiser or Quiksilver quality, will it still work? So far so good, I had an issue with my boat not idling, when I got into the bay after 10 or 15 minutes in open water it stayed fairly high at idle, 1000-1100rpm, what about it made it hard to downshift, bloody annoying! I'm not a cheap guy (laughs) but if there's a $30 piece versus $180 then given the many good reviews I'll definitely give it a shot. The only thing I noticed different is that my Revain part had a spring and my Mercruiser didn't. Not sure if it was used and gone now or if it depends on the pressure to go back to the open or closed position. Anyway, after installing it and cranking it out of the water the idle speed dropped to about 800rpm which should make shifting less aggressive, in the water it can drop even more.
