Review on Stearns Child Classic Life Vest by Raul Fabijan

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good USGS approved design with seat belt.

This vest weighs 30-50 lbs. This is a Class III (Recreational) Buoyancy Aid approved by the US Coast Guard with "Intended Use” listed as "Ski Vest”. It has three straps placed where you want them with very strong plastic clasps that are not easy for a child to undo. Build quality is the same as the Stohlquist youth vest which is almost identical except this vest is made in the USA by The Coleman Company. A good basic life jacket, suitable for a child in the specified weight range, can be had for about twenty dollars, which is a bargain. The vest has no pockets or other frills. What I particularly like about this vest is the adjustable crotch strap which prevents the baby from falling out of the bottom if the vest is worn too loosely and the baby is raising their arms straight up. and possibly slip out. You don't have to use a crotch strap, but it is provided and can be easily removed from the back of the vest if you don't need it. You may need a "ski vest" crotch strap, but it will also make the passenger child happier in regular swimming as they swim higher in the water and the vest doesn't open in front of their eyes. Face. Anyone who has been rocking in a life jacket for a long time knows that you have to keep pulling it down to keep it from floating in the water. A webbing solves this problem. I would like this to be an adult PFD option where the waist belt needs to be adjusted very tight to get the same result.
