Firstly they are very tight. Be sure to center the protector before tightening it down as you won't have to put it on and take it off too often. I was concerned that they might slip due to a missed step, a fall, or even road vibration. No problem. They have saved my board a few times and have shown almost no damage. Even though they are ugly. This is a purely functional item that gets the job done. If you like to move too fast, always push your limits or are just starting to learn, this is a smart choice. If you are a hipster on a Venetian beach with a mini board then this is not for you. I recently bought a new long gazebo board when my 2 year old was pushing my last one down a hill only to have the end split when it hit a curb. . So far he's defeated like a champion. It's also nice to finish my board on concrete without worrying about damaging it. Or raise the board by tilting it up instead of constantly lifting it. Happy to protect my $130 longboard. I will also buy it for my child's board.
