Review on πŸ”Œ Boost Your Connectivity with Aluratek 4-Port USB 2.0 Hub by Tim Woods

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Nice little hub in networking products

Soon I had to glue the hub together. Not too well done. Accordingly, I am lowering my rating. Here's my original post: This hub works great! It's cheap, small and has a simple plug'n'play installation. I needed a self-powered hub for my WD external hard drive and it worked (the hubs on my Dell Inspiron 5100 laptop didn't have enough power to run the hard drive). Just note that the USB cable is very short. For anyone with laptops, this shouldn't be a problem. My old hub (before it died) sat in the same place, with a longer cable that I had to tie together to keep it clean. So for me a short cable is actually better. The only downside is that the ports aren't offset at all. So if you have wide plugs, you may have to sacrifice a port next to it. I've only been using it for a month so can't comment on durability but so far so good.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Makes me nervous
