I have a 29 gallon rectangular fish tank and bought the smallest size this seller has and it is a good size for a fish tank. If you had a bigger tank I would increase it. I checked the pads carefully before use to make sure there were no sharp spots to avoid scratching the tank. (it had nothing on it) The outside is nice and soft and the inside is like the thicker side of the velcro. I was a little worried about internal scratches, but that's not the case. The magnet was strong and I could attach it from a few inches away, so it should work fine with most thinner discs. The interior floats too, so if you try to turn a corner it just floats up. This removed about 90% of the deposits on the glass. so i was happy. It doesn't get into hard-to-reach places like heaters or filters, requiring you to hand-clean them or remove the obstruction, but it's worth it. I've only used it once so I'll re-evaluate how it holds up later.
