My 2001 Grand Cherokee needed a replacement tie rod, tie rod, tie rod, tie rods (4), sway bar links (2) and sway bar dampers so after a lot of research and reading I settled on the Moog -Product line with Monroe Stabilizer Shock and SA1997 case. My two main deciding factors were: 1. Quality2. PriceMoog outperformed both. I found it very good that the bushings are already pressed in or mounted on the parts to be replaced. The only thing I really needed to do extra was thread a Zerk nipple into each of the 4 tie rod ends and fill them with grease once I was done. The Monroe stabilizer damper had better reviews than the Moog counterpart, so I gave it a try. I'm glad I did. Very smooth steering, without sharp jerking of the steering wheel when hitting potholes. The only negative - I had to buy a cover for an open bar. SA1997 for about $5. Still cheaper per pair than the Moog. Can't say if the Moog is better or not, it's just that it was more expensive based on roughly the same reviews. Installation was easy and there were really no problems. I applied Deep Creep to all the old rusty screws the day before and again about an hour before. They retreated with little unexpected effort. I put the new tie rod ends into the new tie rods and brake rods and then adjusted them to the same overall length as the old rusty ones I removed. A little tip if you haven't already. We will do it ourselves first. Remove the old guide last and install the new one first. The axle shifts and you can turn more easily under your rig because the tie rod is out of the way. I used plain old nylon ratchet straps (2 of them) to get the axle back in place to get the 2nd screw into the rail. Not difficult at all. The anti-roll bars, steering rack and tie rod came in easily. Everything tightened to spec, installed the supplied cotter pins, lubricated 4 fittings and taken to the shop. From installation to cleaning took me about 4 hours. And most of the time was busy with beer, YouTube and communicating with a neighbor. You can do it in much less time. This is not a difficult task. I immediately noticed a clear difference in handling. Now a month later it still feels firm and smooth with very little wobble (less than 1/2 inch, used to be about 2 1/2 inches) in the steering wheel. I'm pretty sure it's still a 270,000 mile steering rack. Note: You should consider replacing the ball joints or having them done if your tire wobbles top to bottom. Mine were still tight and correct so I didn't bother to swap them out, but you'll want it when they become loose. Overall, this was a huge improvement for my Jeep. Worth my time and money. I recommend using the Moog brand. Very good value for money.
