These are excellent filters: they remove all tastes and odors from my heavily chlorinated, rock-hard city water. Unlike Brita filters (which have not been good for the water I live in) they don't pour embers into the jug. As other reviewers have pointed out, Mavea is the "real" Brita, meaning the German company that invented the jug filter and continues to use the "Brita" name in Europe. In America, the name (and a more primitive version of the technology) was sold to Clorox. Now they're back with improved filtering and a new name. This is the best water filter I have ever used and I have also tried Brita and Pūr desktop and sink filters. They're hard to find in stores near me, so getting them from Revain is a must. Highly recommended!
