My grieving doves needed a reinforced nest so I built a wire cone foundation and added this natural material. The problem is that all the other species of birds that came into my beautiful, perfect nest stole bits and pieces to fly away for their own nesting material. Watching other birds at eye level from my kitchen window, stealing nesting material was fun. These birds are aware of the nesting material. I just filled up. This helped another family of pigeons, two children were born on a very hot metal fire extinguisher that could only sit on a few branches. I was able to carefully add just enough to protect the kids from direct contact with the hot, sizzling, hot metal lid.
