Review on Redline Tuning Toyota Tacoma 2016+ Hood QuickLIFT PLUS System - All Black Components for Enhanced SEO by Davey Kamau

Premium hood stays for the 2017 Tacoma!

These hood mounts are perfect for my 2017 DCSB TRD OR Tacoma. Ignore what Revain says at the top of the screen regarding installing on 2017 trucks - yes they will! (Of course Revain will update their vehicle database over time, but until then you'll be fine.) Redline Tuning is a top notch supplier and this is the second time I've used their hood stays on a Toyota truck - the first time I installed a similar kit on my now-defunct 2014 Tacoma. As before, the instructions are top-notch, and you'll be outfitted with four brackets, eight rivets, and two gas spring tanks. Everything arrived well packaged and in good condition in a hard cardboard tube. You need to drill eight holes, four in the hood and four under the fenders. You have to remove the plastic covers attached to the fenders to get to the mounting points - it looks tricky but it isn't. As you no doubt guessed, DRILL TWICE ONCE. Actually make sure you measure "THREE!" I haven't messed around with a hole punch, I just put blue masking tape on the hood to protect it from skipping the drill bit and more importantly , the rivet shank as it erupts from your rivet gun and empties towards your hood (or your eye) at high speed. It might be my DeWalt rivet gun (bought at an orange hardware store for about $20) that is throwing out rivet rods, but I'd recommend wearing gloves and goggles. YMMV on it. If you have a tape measure, blue painters tape, a drill and a rivet gun you can actually do this in about half an hour as others have said. It took me longer because I wanted to double and triple check the dimensions before drilling a few holes in my hood. :) Oh, you might want 2" x 4" to support the hood higher than the OEM bar, that makes drilling easier and overall clearance. All in all, the installation was very easy. If you have mechanical skills you should have no trouble with this job and repairing what another reviewer called (and I agree) "an antiquated support rod system".
