The design of the back of the skateboard is amazing. Of course it won't stay that way once you start doing my sons tricks and the butt starts cracking and rubbing, but for now it's just a picture that I can look at for hours. I see different things about him the more I look. Craftsmanship, the sky and a kind of abstraction. The griptape is plain black with some kind of logo. This is a basic slim grip, but any skateboard shop will sell better, as will a design or color. If you are a real racer you use many different tapes and you have to change them frequently. This board is for my six year old who is just starting out. He doesn't have tools to tighten or loosen the wheels, but we already have them, so it's no big deal to us. The wheels are white by default and roll smoothly and easily when they arrive. The board is wrapped in plastic that had to be removed before use. My toddler is so excited to finally have his own board. Although everyone says parents should wear protective pads and helmets because accidents happen and they save lives.
