Good Product: Exterior Accessories

So I did this to fix a broken fender flare on the back of my pickup truck. I cut out the template and then cut the vinyl to size. Then I spread it out to make sure it fits. When I tried to apply it, it took a very long time. If you want a smooth vinyl surface and are working with something curved, be prepared to fight it. It is not as easy to use as a small instruction card. I would NEVER try to use this on an entire car, it would look like crap because you CANNOT, and I mean CANNOT get a finish without wrinkles or little bubbles. Don't get me wrong, it still looked good, but being AR like that, every little bubble was a flop for me. And if you heat it, it won't be smooth and DO NOT try to heat it while applying. It gets very thin and then sticks to itself very easily. It gets as thin as plastic wrap if you try to heat it while applying. .But for my purposes it did its job well, the paint pits are hidden and the lines on the vinyl are blackened out by my varnish (there is a small white line where the vinyl was cut and it is very clear on a black truck ) Pros: Glossy finish looks good, details that were flat are flawless Cons: Difficult to work with unless you're on a flat surface, top layer of clear plastic doesn't stay behind and then causes application problems, IMPOSSIBLE to perform a wrinkle-free, bubble-free installation on any curved surface (unless you're not a pro, I assume) Ikea limited instructions on how to do it.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • poorly thought out
