This is a very reliable product for the price. I work with videos every day and am always looking for something new to add to my work. We all have a camera phone these days, so being able to use it in production is great. With the smartphone gimbal from Hohem, it can be put into production quickly and easily. Let me go through some of the pros and cons. Pros: 1) Lightweight. The product is very light, which is ideal for attaching it to a monopod and moving around without hurting your back. Also great for adding to a small production kit. 2) packaging. The product comes in a great box that fits the gimbal, small tripod and charging cable. This is a rarity, which is why a lot of photography gear and accessories don't come with their own bag or a bag to fit everything that goes with it. 3) battery. It has a great battery, the clarity will outlast the phone. Plus, you can charge the gimbal while using it, so all you need is a USB charger. You can also use the battery in the gimbal to charge your phone while recording. 4) Easy application. The app is pretty easy to navigate. It's also very quick to set up, which is always important when working on a series of videos. 5) Face tracking. It's pretty cool when you record a video of yourself for a vlog. You can mount the gimbal on a table or tripod and never worry about it falling out of frame. 6) slow motion. Not only is the time-lapse photography handy, but the ability to set start and end points is awesome. This can really save you a lot of time zooming and digital panning in post. 7) Simple operation. The pan/tilt and zoom controls are very easy to use and very responsive to the product. Disadvantages: 1) Jerky movement. Sometimes I get fast twitches from the gimble, but mostly it happens when I move too fast. After a few test shots, this is no longer a problem. 2) Application capture with lower video quality. I had no trouble recording 4k videos on my phone through the app, but as soon as I switched to a lower quality for face tracking, I noticed a bigger drop in video quality than I expected. 3) Big phone. I have a Samsung Galaxy 9+ that may be too big. Gimble worked great with it, but for charging a smaller phone that would be key. Also, my phone had to be taken out of the case. Not a big deal, but be aware if you have a big phone. A few tips I found: 1) Set your phone to Gimble before turning on Gimble. 2) Set up the Bluetooth connection through the app, not your phone's Bluetooth. All of this is a great product and a great addition to your video kit. I would definitely recommend this to vloggers and independent phone makers with good cameras. I've already used this for a few behind the scenes shots and I'm very happy with what I've captured.
