The quality of this model is high. The material is a harder wood, holds up well and is laser cut with high precision. The main thing is that all the parts fit together well and the instructions are clear as you work step by step and refer to the parts diagram. Only pull out the pieces needed for each step, otherwise you'll lose the pieces. The small piece of sandpaper that you get with the model is not enough and you could use a larger piece of fine grit sandpaper. I had to grind down a lot of tabs that fit into the slots to make it easier to line up the pieces. I suggest you do this instead of forcing the parts together. I broke some parts at the beginning of the build this way. Overall assembly was difficult and I would not recommend it for an 8 year old. I bought it for my 7 year old but ended up finishing everything myself. Also, be careful when pushing out the pieces as some may not cut as hard as others and may break. I suggest using one of the oval pieces of wood that aren't being used to help you push the pieces out and damage them. In summary, this is a well designed model and I would probably buy other models from this company.
