My fridge started leaking from the ice maker line. I wanted to shut off the water supply to the ice maker, but it was hooked up directly to the cold line under the sink. So to turn off the water supply to the ice maker, I would have to turn off the cold water supply to my kitchen sink. I bought this so I can just turn off the water supply to the ice maker. It came in, I cut the 1/4 inch pipe with a knife, pushed in one end, then the other, and you're done. It literally took less than a minute. If I have problems with the ice machine now, I can isolate the shutdown in the future. Exactly what I needed and couldn't be simpler. No leaks yet (a week later). Much nicer than the Swagelok type. Plastic is the way to go when it comes to plumbing, hands down. Highly recommended.
