From the box you get a VCX Nano, a USB cable and not very clear instructions on how to download the software. The download provider is MEGA, which requires account registration when using the link provided in the instructions. Not feeling comfortable using this service I simply googled the VCX Nano and took you to several websites that link to the software. Even those sites lacked the VX Manager software to set up the Nano. I found it on the Allscanner VXDIAGSHOP.com blog after creating three software packages: Tech2Win, GDS and VX Manager. i was ready to go I have an old HP DM4 laptop with USB 2.0 ports that I use to program other cars. This is important because you need to disable all antivirus programs. If you don't do this, the antivirus will quarantine the programs due to the detection of Trojan software. After disabling the antivirus, you don't want to use the laptop for anything other than programming. Back at the install I moved all the installer files to the root of the C: drive and named them VXNANO, then extracted all the zip files to that location. First I installed the GM GDS using GDS2Autoinstall, then I installed the Tech2Win software using Tech2WinAutoInstall, and finally I installed the VX Manager by clicking on the executable and running it. After you finish VX Manager, you will find the VX Manager icon on your desktop, you need to click on it. Then use the "Configure" option in the VX Manager to ensure that the automatic connection is used. At this point you can test the VCX NANO by connecting it to your laptop and vehicle. Then start VX Manager, it should find NANO and give you the serial number, configuration and licenses. When you click on the License tab in VX Manager, you should see all the devices you have purchased and their expiration date. Return to the VX Manager home page and select Diagnostics. You should find the Passthrough, GM, and GMSDS icons. First, use the GM icon to install the MIDI driver. (I overlooked the issue at this point. The USB driver for my laptop was out of date, it became a problem that was driving me crazy trying to figure it out. My solution was to unplug the USB port in the Windows Completely remove Device Manager. including the driver.) Then go back to VX Manager and set the interface for each. There are some decent videos on Youtube to help you set up the GM GDS and Tech2Win. However, you can click the GM icon on your desktop to launch the program. Please be patient as it takes some time to load. Then select the MIDI2 interface, the next screen is the multi-digit USB interface, click on it. Then use the GDS2 interface to connect. The banner at the top changes from yellow to green when the connection is established. If you have a vehicle older than 2010, GDS2 will not program your vehicle. Just now, we just checked the MIDI USB interface. Now before you run the Tech2Win interface, you need to know that it may or may not work on Windows 10. I had to set up Tech2 Link and the program in Windows Compatibility Mode and use advanced settings to install "Run as administrator". The software does not communicate with the USB port in Windows 10, when set to Windows 7 compatibility it works but fails when using the program. When I set compatibility with Windows 8, it works, communicates and scans with no problems. After you set this up, Tech2Win will ask for an interface to connect MIDI, MIDI2 OR VCXNANO. I used the MID2 and VCXNANO interfaces and both work. The fact that Tech2 shows the VCXNANO in yellow does not prevent it from working. At this point your Tech2 will load in a virtual window, click the maximize button at the top to fill the entire screen. Use the mouse to navigate the screen and buttons. Some on-screen icons require you to point and click, while others require you to use the virtual keyboard on the side. It's time to click your car by make, model and type. Then notice that you see small icons for Tech2, MIDI, NANO and Auto in the lower left corner. The arrows indicate whether they are communicating. You can now use this to scan your vehicle. If you wish to program your vehicle you will need the ACDelco PLC software which can be found at acdelcotds.com. You must purchase an SPS service that runs on a Java application. Register your account, pay $40 for 2 years and verify your email address. When you return you need to look at the line for the SPS subscription and on the right you will see a small "Show" hyperlink where you enter your VIN number and where you return to use the program. Clicking the SPS icon will download a Java application that your browser will try to stop. You need to right click on the downloaded file and instruct the browser to save the file. Once downloaded, you can click on the file and a programming interface will open, allowing you to program the modules in your vehicle. Just think of Tech2Win for diagnostics and PLC for programming. If your car is newer than 2010, you can use the GDS2 program to diagnose. It took me three days to get it working. I hope you can do this, my son.
