Bought two bags and put them in my 15 gallon Fluval. I have been collecting gems/minerals for decades. It's advertised as quartz and they claim it "glitters". No, not champagne. Don't think it's black quartz. It looked weird so I ran a magnet through it. It showed a very high magnetic attraction! I think it's either magnetite or black diamond abrasive which is carbon slag. Now I have some rust in places (note the orange colored parts in the photo, this is rust). He also lowered my Ph from 8.2 to 6.2. Hm. Still drives tanks. There are no fish yet. Twice called Pisces. They never answer their damn phone and don't seem to bother taking calls. Update: Finally spoken to a rep. She stated that they received a bad batch and are changing suppliers. There's still no confirmation as to what this thing really is. I still think it's coal slag. Even the name sounds like another brand of cinder blast sold in major hardware stores. The fish gave me the money back.
